Tennis fans have something exciting to look forward to this weekend as the Fed Cup final between Australia and France will take place at the Perth RAC Arena.
This is the seventh time the two nations will face-off each other, but their first in a Fed Cup Final.
Tennis’ elite women’s players, including current world number one and fan favourite, Australia’s Ashleigh Barty, have been welcomed to Perth ahead of this weekend’s clash between France and Australia.
Australia will be looking for their eighth triumph since 1974 while France will be looking to add to their two trophy wins in 1997 and 2003.
Earlier Tourism Minister, Paul Papalia, addressed the Australian and French teams at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, where the Fed Cup final official draw was conducted.
“Events like this are an opportunity to show visitors all the great things WA has to offer, including world-class sporting events, a vibrant city and spectacular natural surroundings.
“Television broadcast of the Final also gives us a global platform to promote our State and inspire people from all over the world to travel here.”
Ticket sale have also sky-rocketed for the competition, as attendances are expected to be in excess of 20,000, driven by fans keen to see Ashleigh Barty, fresh from her historic WTA finals win in Shenzhen China.
