WA Police have confirmed to WAMN News that they are investigating the recent spotting of a Chinese Police livery vehicle roaming the street of Perth.
The picture shows the bonnet of the vehicle wrote “Police” in Chinese characters, a China Police badge on the side with “Public Safety” in Chinese characters. These characters are commonly appears on Police vehicles in China.
However, there are no English words mentioning “Police” on any side of the vehicle according to the pictures.
Local residents have expressed concerns on the matter, while other says it provokes fear among some Chinese people within the community.
The man who has spotted the vehicle, “Terry”, says he has reported the issue to Police.
“On last Sunday at about 10AM, I went to Cannington and I saw that car stopped at one of the shops in Albany Highway,” he said.
“I dropped by and took some videos and pictures, and reported the matter to WA Police.”
When asked about whether the vehicle is illegal or not, Police Minister Michelle Roberts she will raise the matter with WA Police.
“It seems very strange and I have to get the advice from Police on that,” Mrs Roberts said.
WA Police have responded with a brief statement saying the authorities are aware of the matter.
“The Western Australian Police Force is aware of this matter and are investigating.” A spokesperson said.
