Fremantle man charged following vandalism, threats and car theft

WA Police have charged an East Fremantle man after vandalising a number of homes, stealing a car and threatening residents across Perth.

Fremantle Detectives arrested the 20-year-old man following the incidents between the 23rd and 26th of July.

Police allege two men entered a home in East Fremantle at about 4:10am on Sunday 26 July, where an altercation took place between them and the residents.

It is alleged that the men pepper sprayed a man in his 50s inside the home before using a pick axe to smash the glass front door, with the glass causing multiple cuts to the victim.

At around 5:30 am, the offenders allegedly went to another home in East Fremantle.

The occupant of the home went to a window to look outside when one of the offenders allegedly threw a concrete candle holder through the window, resulting in the victim cut by glass.

Another object was thrown through the window breaking more glass, resulting in more cuts.

The victim received cuts to his stomach, arms and fees.

One of the men attempted to climb through the window and as he did, he allegedly pepper sprayed the victim.

The offenders then allegedly stole a black Hyundai Tucson from a home in East Fremantle at about 6:50am on Sunday.

Police allege the offenders were involved in an altercation at the intersection of Riseley and Marmion Street in Booragoon with the driver of a Ford Falcon.

It is alleged that the offenders reversed the stolen car into the Ford Falcon with force that the rear mount lifted onto the Falcon’s bonnet.

The driver of the Falcon, a man in his 30s, was not injured.

Fremantle Detectives further allege that the offenders vandalised a campervan between 8:30pm on Saturday and 8:30am on Sunday.

The offenders entered the campervan parked at a unit complex in East Fremantle and allegedly poured oil inside the vehicle and wiped over all the surfaces.

Several items were also stolen.

It is further alleged that one of the offenders spoke with a woman in her 30s who was standing next to the campervan around 8:45am on Sunday, before pulling a small canister of pepper spray out and threatened her.

Investigating detectives executed a search warrant on a home on Alexandra Road in East Fremantle on Tuesday.

They located items of interest and took a 20-year-old man into custody.

He has been charged with home burglary and commit, aggravated home burglary, stealing attempted aggravated robbery, home burglary with intent, aggravated assault and stealing a motor vehicle.

The man was also charged with an unlawful act or omission with intent to harm, criminal damage, armed to cause fear, possession of drug paraphernalia, no authority to drive, two counts of unlawful wounding and three counts of attempted gains by fraud.

He is due to due appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing into the second offender.
