WA Police have laid the first charges over a burglary at a firearms store in Yangebup last week.
Detectives attached to Taskforce Prosper have arrested a 27-year-old Hamilton Hill man in the Hamilton Hill area, for his involvement in the theft at Claremont Firearms .
The man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, criminal damage by fire, stealing and aggravated burglary and commit.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
Police said they have recovered 16 firearms from the burglary, 15 in Beeliar bushlands and one from a house in a search.
12 search warrants were conducted on Tuesday afternoon in the Hamilton Hill area that resulted in the arrest.
“This is a significant outcome for the taskforce,” a WA Police spokesman said.
The search is continuing for firearms stolen that remain missing, with police believing in excess of 100 firearms stolen from the burglary.
“The recovery of the firearms is paramount for WA Police,” the spokesman said.
