A four month long joint operation by police in Mirrabooka and Joondalup has resulted in 63 arrests and the seizure of six long barrel guns, including a sawn-off shotgun.
Operation Permalink was targeted at “high harm” offenders and detectives say they’ve seized 100 grams of ice with a street value of forty five thousand dollars.
During a press conference this afternoon, WA Police Detective says the operation has remove the boundaries between both police districts, allowing officers to share intelligence, actively solve, prevent crime.
“The assistance from traffic, canine, regional operations group, and drugs and firearm squad were able to actively reduce the amount of volume crime offending 24 percent over those weeks,” he said.
It’s understood a total of 387 charges have been preferred, with 140 people facing court over the offences ranging from single drug procession to aggravated armed robbery.
WA Police Operation Permalink works well with the department’s summer crime action strategy Operation Heat Shield.
The department stressed that both Mirrabooka and Joondalup Police districts will continue to work together to ensure community safety
