A man has been seriously injured after being stabbed and a woman assaulted after an altercation in Highgate and Perth.
The man and woman approached another man who was lying down on the garden area outside their residence near the corner of Lincoln Street and Beaufort Street in Highgate to check on his welfare at about 5:55pm yesterday.
It is alleged that the 45-year-old man stood up and became aggressive, punching the woman who was aged in her 30s in her face.
He then left, walking along Beaufort Street towards Perth.
The man walking with the woman, who is aged in his 50s, then further challenged him on Beaufort Street when he armed himself with a pair of scissors and stabbed the male victim three times.
Police and St John Ambulance were called to the scene.
The injured man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he will likely be required to undergo surgery.
Attending police officers then located a man matching the description of the offender near the intersection of Newcastle Street and Beaufort Street in Perth.
He was initially aggressive to the officers causing them to draw their tasers, when the man then became compliant and was arrested.
The man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and common assault.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
