Midland trains a platform for Bedford.

With only 232 day left until the state election, the Western Australia Party has announced their candidate for Midland.

Brad Bedford has been endorsed by the party to stand for election; his major platform position is to establish a working railway museum at the Midland Workshops.

Mr Bedford says that the workshops, as sites of historical significance, could be turned into a bustling education precinct that brings tourism dollars to the area.

“We should be preserving WA’s cultural and working history, and promoting those trades that built this state, so younger generations can get a feel for these trades and have a go at learning and developing their fine motor skills.”

“Despite promises to restore the languishing infrastructure of course nothing has happened and I am here to change that.”

East Metropolitan MP Charles Smith says the major parties “whitewash” the state’s history.

“Imagine turning workshops into a museum for school aged children, history enthusiasts and tourists.”

“Not only do we keep a it of Perth’s important working history but the boost this project would provide to the local economy would be fantastic.”
