A toddler who went missing with her dog from her home near Nullagine has been found safe and well.
Three-year-old Matilda had been missing for nearly 24 hours after she disappeared on Wednesday with her pet Jack Russell when she was spotted on Thursday afternoon.
Matilda was last seen at around 2:30pm when she wandered off from her home on Noreena Downs Homestead in WA’s Pilbara region.
Police said that the area had been “inundated with heavy rain” in recent days, resulting in a number of creeks surrounding the property “being full of water.”
They said Matilda had been able to make her way through one of the creeks while the water subsided, but it quickly rose again trapping her and her dog.
At around 4pm on Wednesday, the alarm had been raised that she was missing and the community began the search, providing three helicopters, SES volunteers and mounted police with seven horses.
Matilda was spotted by helicopter walking around 3.5kms south of the homestead with her dog.
She has since been reunited with her family.
