Two men have been charged after a robbery in Maylands that resulted in a police chase last night.
Mirrabooka Detectives allege one of the men stole a 2010 Volkswagen Golf in Railway Parade in Maylands at around 7:35pm after the victim stopped to open a gate.
The man sat in the driver’s seat and the victim, a woman in her 30s was assaulted by the man when she attempted to prevent him from taking the vehicle.
Police also allege he collected the second man who was waiting a short distance away and drove away along Central Avenue.
They attempted to stop the stolen car in a chase at around 9:11pm on Beach Road in Koondoola but it ended when the car crashed on Orrong Road in Carlisle.
Police cordoned off the area and located the men hiding in two different backyards a short distance away from the car.
A 23-year-old man from South Guildford was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated robbery, trespass, giving false evidence of personal detail to police and removing or interfering with monitoring equipment without reasonable excuse.
A 27-year-old Girrawheen man was charged with stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, aggravated robbery and possessing a controlled weapon in a manner likely to cause fear.
He was also charged with trespass, no authority to drive and driver of a vehicle failing to comply with a direction to stop.
Cannington Detectives also charged him following a result into an investigation of a robbery that occurred in East Victoria Park on 26 May.
He has charged with aggravated home burglary and commit, aggravated armed robbery and stealing a motor vehicle.
Both men will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
